Lot 587 Canada #1516i 1994 88c Masterpieces of Canadian Art with Gold Colour Shift, a mint never hinged single showing the vertical gold colour bars shifted by 6.5 mm upwards, thus showing the bottom bar across Vera’s chest. Quite a striking and rare error, with only 2 panes of 16 known, very fine. Unitrade CV$900.
Lot 91, Canada 1900 seven cent Numeral Registered cover Québec to Singapore
Lot 91 Canada 1900 7c Empire Registered Rate Numeral Cover to Singapore, a 1c QV stationery envelope mailed from St. Roch de Québec (FEB.9 c.d.s. free strike) to Singapore, Straits Settlements (MAR.18 receiver) through Québec City (FEB.9 transit) and London, England (FEB.22 oval registration transit). The cover was uprated with a single 6c QV Numeral to pay for the 2c Imperial Penny Postage rate plus the 5c registration fee. Combinations or uprating were necessary to pay this rate until the 7c Numeral was issued in December 1902. Very fine and ex Horace Harrison (2000) and Don Shorting. Estimate C$750.
Lot 150, Canada 1851 six pence slate violet Consort used pair on laid paper
150 Canada #2 1851 6d Slate Violet Consort Imperforate on Laid Paper, a used horizontal pair with central and single strike of a target cancel. The pair has rich colour, clear vertical laid lines and four large to huge margins, showing part of the next stamp at lower left. There is a very faint trace of a closed tear in margin at left (very difficult to see, even in fluid), not mentioned in the accompanying 2012 Richard Gratton certificate, still a lovely and very fine appearing pair.
