Lot 1695 Canada #495var 1969 6c Sir William Osler, mint gummed pair (with parts of 5 other stamps), with dramatic printing shift of the blue colour to the right, by 12mm. Obvious faults, still a rare modern variety, and the only one we recall seeing. Estimate C$100.

Lot 661 Canada #105, 141, 202 Lovely Hand Drawn Saskatchewan Coat of Arms Cover, franked with a 1c Admiral, 1c MacDonald and 5c UPU Conference, mailed Regina on JAN.26.1934 to New York City. The cover is signed by the Regina Postmaster Leo LaBelle and also the President of the Regina Board of Trade. The very colourful cachet drawing is signed “J.T.D”, presumably the addressee “Mr. J. T. Dye”. One of the prettiest of these we have seen, very fine. Estimate C$200.

Lot 196 Canada #39a 1873 6c yellow brown Small Queen Diagonal Half Used on Cover, mailed from Wilmot N.S. on AUG.20.1873 to Bridgetown N.S. (partial receiver on back), franked with a diagonal half of an early printing (one dot state) 6c Small Queen, paying the domestic rate. The stamp is properly tied by a grid cancel. Lot 63 PC 34xx 1890s ½c black Small Queen Precancel on Illustrated Patriotic Postcard, a most colourful postcard showing a scene on the Victoria Bridge on Guelph, Ontario, advertising the W. Bell & Co. Organ Manufacturers and an illustration of their manufacture on reverse side. The ½c stamp with Type “S” precancel pays the box holder rate, and there is no space for addressing the card. Light edge creases, still rare, with brilliant colours and quite striking. From the John Hillson Collections, illustrated in H&N, page 83. Estimate C$500.

Lot 1940 Great Britain Circa 1901 Unadopted Bradbury and Wilkinson Line Engraved Essay of King Edward VII, in brown, on ungummed and unwatermarked wove paper, denominated at 1d. This is also called the “Canadian Head,” as it is identical to Canada’s 1903-1908 King Edward VII definitive issue head design. A block of four of this essay (in blue) sold at a large auction house in England in 2006 for £600. We have not otherwise seen this in any of the important GB or Canadian King Edward VII exhibits or literature. Very fine and rare. Estimate C$150.
