Cantor Catalogues

SA19-Cantor-CompletePrint catalogues for Sale #19, The Daniel Cantor Collection of Canada Small Queens, were sent out this week. Because of the specialized nature of this single-owner sale and the size of the catalogue (264 pages), we are only sending to the portion of our mailing list who have identified themselves as Small Queens collectors and interested parties. The catalogues are being sent by Express Post, so no stamps will be used. If you feel you are on the recipient list and have not already checked with us, please send us an e-mail or call to confirm.

Welcome to Auction #18

Sparks Auctions is proud to present Public Auction #18, held at Suite 203, 1550 Carling Avenue, on September 29th-October 1st, 2015. It is certainly our biggest and most exciting auction so far, with a great number of high quality stamps, many rarely seen or offered varieties and much more. Our customers will know that we do not over-use the adjective extremely fine, and this auction is no exception to that, but we can safely say that we have never used it on so many deserving stamps.

Of note in this auction is our extensive Canada offering, with just under 900 lots. Many not often seen varieties abound, from the Pence issues to modern. Those collecting as many Unitrade sub-numbers as possible will have many to chose from. One large consignment of note has not been on the market since the early 1980s, and was assembled in the 1960s and 1970s. It contains major rarities, such as a mint Canada #1 with major re-entry and a mint Newfoundland #C12a plus many other high quality stamps and covers not often seen or offered.

Lot 8 three penny beaver
Lot 8 — 1851 3d red Beaver Imperforate on Laid Paper, with Major Re-Entry from Pane A, position 47. Unused (no gum), with four large, fairly even margins and a very clear re-entry. This is an exceptionally rare stamp. There are approximately 20 unused Canada number ones compared with at least four times as many unused twelve penny blacks. Only two of these have a major re-entry and A47 is the ultimate re-entry. The stamp has tiny stains at upper left and a trifle bit of soiling at upper right plus a vertical crease at far left in the margin only. A major rarity of Canadian philately, with only two known examples and accompanied by a 2014 Greene Foundation certificate. Catalogue value is for a regular stamp without the re-entry only, and used examples are catalogued at close to double the value of regular, non-re entered stamps. Unitrade for regular is $50,000.

Our Canadian postal history section is probably the most extensive we have offered yet, with over 400 desireable lots, from single items to a lot of over ten thousand covers, with something for just about everyone, from specialist collectors to postal history dealers.

Our always popular lots and collections section contains 635 lots from well over 100 different countries, in the form of dealer stocks, collectors’ accumulations and collections. We note extensive Great Britain, United States, Germany to name just a few, plus the lifetime collection of Father Beaulac in its own section.

Please make sure to view our auctions online, as this provides you with a great many extra scans, which do not fit in our printed catalogues. Our scans are renowned for their size and clarity, as we want you to be able to see exactly what you are bidding on. Stampauctionnetwork.com is the place to go for easy viewing of our catalogue as well as live bidding during the sale. Beginning the week of August, 31st, featured items, updates, corrections and additional scans can be found here on our site.

Enjoy the sale!
