Lot 436, Newfoundland 1932-37 five cent Caribou sheet margin pair with lathework, sold for C$263
Lot 436 Newfoundland #191P 5c Caribou, Die II Plate Proof in Red Violet, a left sheet margin pair, printed on “bookend” bond paper with blue “moiré” lines on back. The sheet margin at left shows lathework, and the stamps measure 20.4 mm wide (as opposed to 21 mm wide for Waterlow printings). Rare, with only 50 pairs recorded, and only 10 of those with lathework. Unitrade CV$300, sold for C$225.00 plus 17% buyer’s premium.

Lot 241 Canada #158 1929 50c Dark Blue Bluenose, a mint never hinged upper margin block of four, showing part of the plate imprint in margin. A lovely block which is quite fresh, all four stamps are wonderfully centered, extremely fine in all respects. Unitrade CV$2,800, sold for C$2,400.00 plus 17% buyer’s premium.

Lot 396 New Brunswick #2 1851 6d Olive Yellow Heraldic Imperforate on Bluish Paper, used with very fine strike of the #23 in oval grid cancel from Richibucto (RF 6, rare). The stamp has four lovely margins, bright colour and is quite fresh, very fine. Accompanied by a 1989 Peter Holcombe certificate. Unitrade CV$1,600, sold for C$1,450.00 plus 17% buyer’s premium.
