Lot 591 2-Ring #57-Paris, stamp and cover, a 3c Large Queen has a very fine strike of what appears to be a locally made obliterator, possibly made to replace a broken official instrument. Also a yellow 3c SQ cover mailed MAR.9.1871 to Woodstock. (Woodstock and Paris Station backstamps.) The obliterator is faint, but can be substantiated by the Paris datestamp. Estimate $75, sold for C$210 plus buyer’s premium.
