Lot 994 Canada 1944 Armed Forces Air Letter with Address Reported Missing, mailed from West Edmonton FEB.21.1944 to a flying officer McGuire in England. Has a straight line “Reported Missing” and a boxed “Return to Sender” handstamps on front. The back has a label attached that reads “it is deeply regretted that the addressee is reported missing on war service.” Some minor creasing otherwise very fine. Flying officer McGuire was killed February 25, 1944. From Earle Covert’s exhibit The Development of Canadian Armed Forces and Civilian Air Letters 1942 to 1996 (available as a BNAPS book).
