One of Canada’s rarest stamps, with fewer than ten mint or unused examples recorded. In fact, of all the major numbered Canadian stamps, only the #2 and #31 are known in similar small quantities. This stamp is likely the second nicest example, with the original gum example in the Firth collection appearing to being the finest. Ex. Vadeboncoeur. From the Outaouais Collection. There is a total of 243 stamps with all the 2-ring numbers represented except nos. 16, 17, 20, 37, 42. There is duplication, but almost always on different denominations, shades or papers, and there is a detailed spreadsheet accompanying the lot which lists every number and which stamps are included. A good proportion of the strikes are easily readable, but some are not, for example the 2-ring 50, and others. Overall nice quality lot, and careful examination is recommended to better appreciate the value of the collection, as it contains many valuable stamps and postmarks. Estimate $1,000, sold for C$1,350.00 plus 17% buyer’s premium.

The collection includes about 190 stamps, with a very wide range of different cancels on different denominations, way to many to list, so all are scanned online. We note better items such as a pair of deep blue 15c on thicker paper, very fancy geometrics, “PREPAID BY PUBLISHER”, mail bag seals, a CANADIAN PKT datestamp, crosses, leafs, stars, an OFFICIAL Hechler overprint, RRY cancels just to name a few. Many sought after cancels in this one, mostly choice strikes, as well as more common, and fairly mixed, but would look nice all sorted, see scans online. About one third of the stamps are identified by the owner and overall fine. Estimate $1,200 sold for C$1,700.00 plus 17% buyer’s premium.
