Lot 446Lot 446 Newfoundland #82a 1902 2c orange King Edward VII Imperforate Sheet Margin Strip of Three on Registered Cover, mailed Manuels, Newf’d (manuscript dated broken circle AUG.21.1902) and addressed to St. John’s (cds receiver on back), plus a few Railway T.P.O. cancels on front and back. Stamps are cut into at top, else a rare usage on a quite appealing cover. Very fine. Estimate $1,500, sold for $1,350 plus buyer’s premium.

Lot 618ALot 618A Newfoundland #2 1857 2d scarlet vermilion Heraldic, Thick Paper, a very scarce and expensive issue which is very rare in any multiple. This pair has a deep colour and the cancels are lighter than usually found on the first issue of the colony. It is attractive with evenly spaced margins which are well clear of the design and in places touch or are just into the outer frameline. A world-class rarity in great quality.
