Lot 123 Canada #106b 1911-12, 2c pink Admiral, never hinged, with lower sheet margin selvedge, fresh bright colour and choice centring, showing the clear “accent” variety over “C” of “CENTS”, a lovely stamp of this difficult shade, originating from Plate 2, challenging in this quality, extremely fine; with 1994 Greene Foundation certificate, ex “Crossings” (January, 2010) and Smallman (February, 2018, where it realized a $1,150). Lot 321 Great Britain #1 1840 1p black Queen Victoria Imperforate, Plate 2, an unused (regummed) horizontal pair, with clear to large margins, showing a large part of the two adjoining stamps at top, very fine. Accompanied by a 2017 B.P.A. (London) certificate stating “some toning, tiny surface scrape at foot of IJ” (both very light). A lovely and rare unused pair, worthy of the finest collections.
