Vertical crease not appearing to affect the sheetlet (appears to be underneath), else very fine. Scott value given is for the sheetlet off-cover (see footnote). Scott CV U$1,500.

Lot 995, Canada 1915 registered Admiral War Tax cover, Windsor to Egypt, sold for C$760Lot 995 Canada #MR2Bi 1915 Registered Admiral Early War Tax Cover to Egypt, mailed from Windsor Ontario on APR.19.1915 to the Indian Expeditionary Force in Egypt, through Toronto (APR.20 transit), with a Detroit, Michigan return address. The cover is franked with an MR2Bi (5c blue Admiral overprinted INLAND REVENUE WAR TAX) on front and six MR1 War Tax stamps on back totaling 8c. The overprinted War Tax stamps were issued to be used on fiscal documents, but a few rare examples are known used postally. Bit of aging and open on three sides for display, still a scarce franking and destination, plus an early use of the War Tax issues (rate in effect April 15th). Estimate C$350, sold for C$650.00 plus 17% buyer’s premium.
