Lot 618A Newfoundland #2 1857 2d scarlet vermilion Heraldic, Thick Paper, a very scarce and expensive issue which is very rare in any multiple. This pair has a deep colour and the cancels are lighter than usually found on the first issue of the colony. It is attractive with evenly spaced margins which are well clear of the design and in places touch or are just into the outer frameline. A world-class rarity in great quality.
