Lot 51 Canada #33 1868 3c bright red Large Queen, on Laid Paper, mint with original gum, hinged and centered to top, fine. Accompanied by a (pink) 2016 Greene Foundation certificate stating ” repaired vertical tear at top centre extending as vertical crease through the centre.” Still one of the approximately 10 known mint copies, and the first we have handled with original gum. Unitrade CV$37,500, sold for C$6,600 plus buyer’s premium.

Lot 360 Great Britain #O10 1885 brown violet £1 Queen Victoria, Overprinted “I. R. OFFICIAL”, unused (no gum) and well centered. Accompanied by a 2016 P.T.S. Expertizing (Surrey, GB) certificate stating “thin at bottom left, diagonal crease on letter “F” top right corner, stained and soiled”. Two small ownership handstamps on back. Still, we qualify these faults as minor, as the stamp has a very fine appearance and would look great even in the best collections. A desirable major world rarity. S.G. #O11 £75,000.
