Auction #16 is Complete

With strong bidding including some very impressive prices, Auction #16 is now on the books. Our new premises, while not as spacious as we enjoyed on Sparks Street, proved up to the task. We will feature some of the highlights over the coming weeks.

Auction #16 FloorThe office is closed to the public until Monday, February 2nd, while we organize material and prepare invoices, though we are able to respond to e-mail and will check voice-mail messages. You will likely not receive a reply until Monday unless the matter is urgent.

Unaudited Prices Realized can be checked on Stamp Auction Network. As always, please wait for an invoice by e-mail to inform you precisely what you have won, along with premium and tax if applicable.

Local buyers who are planning to pick up their lots will be able to do so beginning on Wednesday, February 4th by appointment. Please contact us by e-mail or telephone and we will advise of the hours we are available. There is plenty of free visitor’s parking at 1550 Carling.

We are accepting consignments through February 27th for a sale in May. Please contact us to let us know what you have available.

Auction #16 Catalogues are in the mail

Our printed catalogue for Sale #16 was sent out this afternoon. Customers in Ontario and Québec will likely receive theirs this week, while the rest of Canada will have them in hand early next week, and US destinations by the end of the week.

A small number of catalogues were sent to more distant recipients just before the New Year.

Please let us know if you are expecting a copy and have not received it by January 16th.

Auction #16 will take place on January 27-29, 2015

After organizing our new offices and getting comfortable, we are gearing up for an excellent sale in the new year. Most lotting is complete, and catalogue production will start very soon.

Our Canada & BNA offering has many highlights, including two Seaway Inverts (mint NH, and seldom seen used), a collection of plate block Officials including high values with missing periods, an XF unused Newfoundland #2, a 1933 bistre Balbo Flight with Inverted Surcharge.

Canada also features the lovely Summerhill Collection of Admirals. The owner made a point of collecting the very best quality of every Admiral listed in the Unitrade catalogue. All mint never hinged, fresh, very fine centered or better, in singles and often in blocks, including coil multiples. A few major re-entries (used) are also included.

The British Commonwealth is highlighted by the Stanstead Collection, primarily Africa to 1953. With consistently high quality, where used sets were available in nice condition, these were preferred. Overall the offering has very rich, deep colour. In some sets the high values are mint (sometimes never hinged), reflecting the owner’s wish to avoid used high values that may have had suspect cancels.

Commonwealth also includes a very nice Falkland Islands collection.

We continue to offer consistently good Postal History, with both individual and grouped lots, and many wide-ranging collections & accumulations of considerable volume that will reward inspection.

The auction will be held on January 27th, 28th and 29th, 2015 in our new premises at 1550 Carling Avenue, Suite 203, Ottawa. Catalogues will be mailed early in the new year, with posting on sparks-auctions.com and Stamp Auction Network at that time as well.

We have already amassed much material for a spring sale. Please contact us if you have anything you would like included.
