Nascopie, multiple redirected cover, franked with 5c Postal Union Congress, tied by boxed violet “EASTERN ARCTIC / MAIL SERVICE / Hudsons Bay Co / S.S. “NASCOPIE”” datestamp, to Lake Harbour, Baffin Island, redirected multiple times including to Port Burwell, Dundas Harbour, Craig Harbour, Ponds Inlet, Pangnirtung, and eventually Toronto, with backstamps of all but the last, Port Burwell and Ponds Inlet/Baffin Island in violet, imprint of the Arctic Mission Church of England in Canada on back flap, some light edge creasing, else a fine and desirable Arctic cover. Lot 748 People’s Republic of China 1950 (June 6), Shanghai “Flying Goose” meter cover to New York, franked with “**31.00” red boxed meter with “Flying Goose” and red double-circle Shanghai dater, further cancelled with bilingual Shanghai c.d.s. (17 Jun), to New York, a scarce Revolutionary-period usage when postage stamps were not easily attainable, a fine example of this desirable meter.
