Lot 17, Canada collection of eight Three Penny Beaver imperforates with 4-ring numerals, sold for C$1,404 (Guelph #15 shown).Lot 17 Canada #4 Collection of eight 3d Beaver Imperforates with Legible 4-ring Numeral Cancels, includes #s 39 (St Johns, RF 9, tough to find on Pence issues), 50 (Windsor, RF 6), 12 (Dundas, RF 9 faint strike), 15 (Guelph, RF 6, extremely fine strike but stamp has a thin), 21 (Montréal, RF 1, corner crease), 31 (Picton (RF 7, very fine strike), 10 (Cobourg, RF 7, faint strike) and 11 (Cornwall, RF 7, rare and usually faint). The stamps typically have three to four margins and are sound, except for those faults mentioned above. Estimate $400, sold for C$1,200.00 plus 17% buyer’s premium.

Lot 1049, Newfoundland 1889 2c on 1c surcharge stationery postcard, St. John's to Birmingham, EnglandLot 1049 Newfoundland #P5 1889 Rare 2c on 1c Surcharged Stationery Post Card, mailed on MAY.15.1889 by Mr. Ohman to Levi and Salaman, in Birmingham England, asking them to send him “one doz. 9 carats sets rings.” Postmarked “Late Office St John’s / Newf’d” broken circle, which was used between 1886 and 1889, and there is a receiving datestamp from the addressees dated MAY.23. Mr Ohman’s Jewelery Store was the designated “Late Office” in 1889 for mailing letters up to fifteen minutes before ship departures. Only 700 P3 cards were revalued on May 14th, 1889 due to a shortage of the P4 2c UPU cards. Webb explains that “examples used May-July 1889 are valued at a minimum of $800.” Two punch holes at top, still very fine and an extremely rare genuine use of this card. Lot 1424 Great Britain 1846 Cover to New Brunswick, franked with six copies of #4, being a single, a pair and a strip of three (Scott Specialized CV for stamps alone in these configurations is $600, and much more on cover). Mailed from Port Arlington (lovely blue c.d.s. dated MAY.12.1846 on front) to “St John’s” (with receiver dated JU?) and two transit datestamps MY 13 and MY 14. There is also a black straightline “MORE TO PAY” on front, beside a fancy “2” due marking. A very clean and attractive cover. Estimate C$150.

Lot 625 New Brunswick #2b 1859 6d Bisect on Folded Cover, mailed from St John’s on APR.27.1859 to Edmundston (APR.29 receiver) through Woodstock (APR.28 transit). This folded cover (no letter inside) is franked with a 6d olive yellow, bisected to make up the 3d rate. It is well tied by two #1 oval grid obliterators. A very clean cover, with two vertical file folds (one running through stamp) with two expert signatures including a Pfenninger (Munich) handstamp on front and Jakubek (Hamburg). Unitrade CV$4,500.
