Lot 1001, Collection of Roughly 1,100 Primarily Mint British Commonwealth Blocks and Plate Blocks, 1930s-1950s, in two Crown springback albums containing many sets and partial sets, with roughly 90% mint blocks, with material possible on either side of the given range. The collection consists from A to Z countries, with better representation from Australia, New Zealand, Ceylon, West Indies, just to name a few. A spot check indicated just a few of the better mint blocks and sets with #s Montserrat 102-103 ($80 total); New Zealand 258-268 ($125 total); Niue 95-103 ($80 total); Sarawak 139-173 ($112 total); Antigua 94-95 ($134 total); India 154-161 ($230 total), along with blocks and plate blocks, including a few sets, cataloguing $10 to $30 and up. Vibrant colours throughout, with the majority of stamps being lightly hinged, along with many never hinged stamps, and a few with hinge remnants. This valuable collection includes a host of better singles and sets, such as: Antigua, Bahama, Barbados, British Guiana, British Honduras, Cayman Islands, Dominica, Falkland Islands, Falkland Islands Dependencies, Grenada, Jamaica, Leeward Islands, Nevis, St. Christopher, St. Kitts-Nevis, St. Vincent, South Georgia, Tobago, Trinidad, Trinidad & Tobago, Turks Island, Turks & Caicos and Virgin Islands. Where it was not clear, we have cited the least expensive shade/variety. Included also are numerous additional shades. The Common Designs are also basically complete in period. This remarkable collection had been put away for many years, thus the colours are super fresh and vibrant, and it is definitely worth a closer look, starting with the 90 images that accompany it. Lot 1466 Lovely Old Time British Commonwealth Collection in Two Volume New Imperial Albums, with a mix of mint and used from early classics to about 1936. Most of the countries appear to be present, except for missing Canada and GB. An above average collection with too many better items to list, but we note Antigua to the 3sh (mint), Australia #11 (used), Burma #O14 (used, $240), Cape of Good Hope with 9 triangles plus two fakes, good early Ceylon, Gibraltar #74 (mint $110), useful Hong Kong with 90 stamps, Mauritius #17 (used), lots of India and States, Australia and States including a New South Wales #B1 (used), South Australia #53e (mint, $190) and much more. Many stamps or sets cataloguing up to $100, and many more up to $50, we noted a good quantity of better postmarks throughout.
